2024 Experimental Research and Case Study Scientific Poster Competition
Held in Conjunction with the Regional Osteopathic Convention (ROC-NY)

The New York State Osteopathic Medical Society (NYSOMS) invites Students, Interns, Residents, and Fellows to participate in the 2024 NYSOMS Student & Intern/Resident/Fellow Experimental Research & Case Study Scientific Poster Competition. The competition will take place on Friday, April 19, 2024, during the annual Regional Osteopathic Convention at the Sonesta White Plains Downtown Hotel in White Plains, NY. 

Notable Competition Details:

  • Eligible to participate:
    • Interns, residents, and fellows who are training in New York and graduated from a COCA accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
    • Interns, residents, and fellows (MD/DO/MBBS) that are being sponsored by an active NYSOMS member or are in a training program with ACGME osteopathic recognition.
      • Osteopathic Medicine Students that attend a COCA accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
  • Submissions
    • Research of the type acceptable to the AOA OMED Poster Competition.
      • Acceptable research subjects:
        • Explanatory Clinical Research
        • Educational 
        • Other research subjects
    • Case Studies that are complete, well-documented and researched will be acceptable from interns, residents, and fellows ONLY.
  • The work presented must be the work of the Student/Intern/Resident/Fellow who submits it.
  • Research must have been done while the participant was a student or in postgraduate training.
  • Research submitted should be original to this competition and has not been published.
  • Submissions that have been shown at local hospitals and/or regional/national conference are accepted.
  • A panel of judges appointed by NYSOMS will evaluate the posters using predetermined objective criteria and scoring forms. The judges' decision will be final.
  • NOT Accepted:
    • PURE LITERATURE REVIEWS will NOT be accepted.
    • Multiple entries by a submitting author will NOT be accepted.

Submissions MUST be emailed before the DEADLINE: Friday, March 1, 2024 - 11:59 pm (ET) to NYSOMS - [email protected]  or will NOT be accepted.

Three (3) prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Student research, Intern/Resident/Fellow research, and the Intern/Resident/Fellow case studies:

  1. First Place Winners - $250
  2. Second Place Winners - $100
  3. Third Place Winners - $50

Multiple entries are not allowed by a submitting author and only one price may be awarded per Intern, Resident, Fellow and Medical Student. 

The ROC-NY poster competition committee will determine if the submission will be accepted for presentation at the poster competition. Due to space constraints, we may need to limit the number of posters accepted into the competition.
